A cry from Puerto Rico: ‘In my life, I have never seen anything so mismanaged.’

Steven Mufson, of the Washington Post, shares some of the short conversations he was able to have with Bluewater Defense CEO, Erick Spackey before losing communication ability. A few highlights,

“…he is expecting to start producing the combat trousers for the Army on Monday, Oct. 2. “For me, the main objective is to bring my people back to work and provide them a safe place to earn money, be in air conditioning and have a warm meal,” he wrote.

Amazed, he said that more than 250 people — about half his workforce — showed up for work on Monday to help bring back the facilities. “This is why I fight for Puerto Rico!” he wrote.”

Bluewater Defense Team Shows Resilience After Hurricane Maria Devastates Puerto Rico

Nearly two weeks after Hurricane Maria slammed Puerto Rico, much of the island is still at a standstill. But at a defense factory outside San Juan, 330 employees reported for work on Tuesday determined to rebuild and restart.

“It’s a wonderful demonstration of resilience. Many of these workers lost everything, their homes and their possessions. Yet, they’re committed to their jobs and overcoming adversity,” said Eric Spackey, owner and CEO of Bluewater Defense.
